Presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has alleged of plot to cause a crisis in the country with cash crunch, disrupt the February 25 elections for an interim government.
This is coming a week after Tinubu alleged plans to scuttle the 2023 general elections through fuel scarcity and naira redesign.
“Let fuel be expensive, only they know where they keep it. Keep petrol, keep the naira, we will vote and be elected. You may change the ink of naira notes. What you expect will not happen. We will win”, the APC Presidential Candidate told supporters in a rally at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Reiterating the threat to the forthcoming elections at his campaign rally in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital on Friday, Tinubu said the plot by the “elements” is to enthrone an Interim Government after May 29, 2023.
“They want to provoke you to violence, so that election will be disrupted and postponed, and they can cunningly introduce an interim government, that’s their plot. But this will backfire because we are wiser”, he alleged.
The former Lagos governor urged the people to stand firm, collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), to resist the alleged plot.
“This election is yours. It is a vote for good fortune. It is the election you will use to liberate yourselves. Ekiti, Yoruba, whose turn is it? Relax, this election is yours. I have what to live with, but there are many unemployed Nigerians who graduated from school.
“Ekiti people are known for good and quality education, but they want to turn us into servants. They got it wrong, we are not servants. They locked up money. Trek to your polling units, vote and stay with your vote.
“I beg you in the name of God, the situation on the ground does not need violence, do not fight with them, exercise patience. Those who created naira scarcity and locked up your money are the same ones who will unlock the money.
“They created naira scarcity to provoke you to anger so that there can be violence so that there will be disruption and so that they can postpone the election and impose an interim government. Exercise patience, even if they cause rain to fall on that day, we will vote and will win. The rat that eats poison will kill itself”, Tinubu said.
On his part, Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, said, “We don’t need to campaign much for Tinubu. We have all agreed to vote for him, we have all agreed to give him the highest percentage of votes in the country; we want to pay him back for all his good works for Ekiti.
“We will return home and like Jehovah’s witnesses, tell our people that it is Tinubu that can do it. Tell our people to collect their PVCs, whoever does not have a PVC is not a friend of Tinubu.”
