Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Candidate for the Cross River North Senatorial Elections, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, has been declared the winner of the Cross River North Senatorial district election.
Senator Jarigbe, who is the incumbent senator for the area polled 76,145 votes to defeat his APC opponent, Gov. Ben Ayade, who scored 56,595 votes.
Declaring Jarigbe the winner of the contest, the returning officer, Dr Emmanuel Emanghe, who spoke on behalf of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), commended everyone who had been in the field and who had made it possible for a successful poll.
Similarly, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Ogoja/Yala federal constituency, Mr Godwin Offiono, has been declared the winner of the Constituency election.
The PDP candidate won the election after polling a total vote of 36,642 to beat his All Progressives Congress (APC) Opponent, Mr Jude Ngaji, who scored 32,964 in the Saturday House of Representatives Election.
In his remarks, Returning Officer for the house of reps contest, Dr Wokasor Eni Ofem, said: “By the power conferred on me as returning officer in this election, I declare Offiono as the winner of the contest.”
In his post-election speech, newly elected parliamentarian, Mr Godwin Offiono, expressed happiness for the victory.
He promised to contribute to the law-making process in the house, which would help in turning around the fortunes of the Constituency.
