ASATU To Fish Out Killers Of Chief Okolo

The Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU) has declared that it will do everything possible to fish out the Killers of the President-General of the Obosi community in the Idemili-North local government area of Anambra State.

The National President of ASATU in a condolence message made available to our correspondent said ASATU expressed rude shock over the murder and sudden death of their member, who was allegedly shot dead by rival cult members at a petrol station in the state.

The condolence message reads, “Over the week, precisely, on Monday, January 2, 2023, ASATU received with rude shock, the sad news of the death of Chief Ik Okolo, PG Obosi Development Union, who was reportedly killed in a petrol station following a cult-related clash among rival cult groups in Obosi.

ASATU sees this ugly development as barbaric, reckless and inhumane, and thus, in strong terms, condemns it entirely.

We were happy thanking God for the successful celebration of the yuletide, and welcoming of the new year without knowing that bad news was to be heard. We did not expect or pray to open the year with this kind of sad event.

Indeed, the ASATU family has lost a key member, who contributed so immensely to the growth of the Association. He was a good and active member dedicated to selfless services to his community.

The manner of his death, while in active service, even in his domain still left the ASATU family dumbfounded and in a total state of shock that a PG who volunteered to serve his people could die in that manner.

The State Government has resolved to fish out the perpetrators of this abominable act, ASATU will as well deploy every means in its disposal to ensure that these bad elements are apprehended in order to face the full weight of the law.

We send our condolences to the family of Chief Ik Okolo, and the entire good people of the Obosi community over this huge loss, and urge them to keep calm as we work towards ensuring that justice is fully served in his case.”
